Mechanistic Analysis of Asphalt Pavements in Support of Pavement Preservation Decision-Making

Modern roadways provide road users with a comfortable and safe ride to their destinations. Due increasing traffic demands maximum allowable loads, authorities should also pay attention the structural soundness of pavements while seeking cost-effective timely maintenance or minor rehabilitation activities. This means that sustainable pavement preservation strategy is needed includes an optimal condition assessment support appropriate decision-making processes. To address this need, research study proposes approach integrate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) data ground truth predict long-term performance flexible pavements. Appropriate mechanistic models take into account nature Asphalt Concrete (AC) materials are used for analysis increase accuracy results when it comes protecting extending life. The indicated examining viscoelastic behavior AC appears be more conservative response analysis, as well fatigue compared most conventional assumptions linear elastic materials. In accordance common sense, temperature was considered critical factor related investigation. Overall, may not good reliable practice continue process management decisions based on only one type.
